my Canadian family

bismillah..

although i strongly think that this post would be somewhat "empty" without any pictures of the people that i shall describe below, i just feel that i cannot wait to blog about this

alhamdulillah, its gonna be my one year anniversary here in Canada (applause). i think i landed in ottawa on september 3rd. and then on the 4th was my first birthday celebration in canada. wohoo!


i guess i cant really call them "canadians". but technically, sara and her family have been living here for 13 years. so, thats canadian ehough. with the slangs and all *wink

i got close with sara because i guess i just wanted to talk to someone new, and being myself, i want to make new friends. thus. she invited me to her house, to her birthday party and recently (which was yesterday), to her house for iftar. her parents are such awesome people: aunty zety and bob (they dont use "uncle"/"aunty" in the west. but since aunty zety is malaysian, we just call her that. and bob is canadian. the real deal)

i am so blessed that aunty zety invited me (ate ketam, chicken, cake) luas rezeki bulan ramadhan ni. but apart from all the food, i just enjoy their company. i sincerely and genuinely am :) walaupun family 14ribu km away from me, i dont feel family-less. i have people taking care of me, and worries about me. alhamdulillah :)


iman on the other hand, is not canadian at all. HAHAHA. but she is as close to a canadian as you can get. she's quirky, she's outgoing, she works at the university managing all the registration for new students, her friends are all blonds, she stays in an amazing apartment all by herself, and gosh i just love it when she speaks english :) she reminds me of my siblings back home, where i can just talk about things to :) not to say that i cant do that with my malaysian friends, but in reality, you cant share everything with everyone kan? she told me that i kinda "gives off this vibe". lol. i guess that vibe is me wanting to break out of my circle of "current friends and malaysian-ness". i want to try everything canadian while i am here. and with iman, i know i can do that. she is my mentorhhh!
